The honest picture
Roof Repairs in Worcester — What's Actually Involved
Most roof repairs in Worcester come down to a handful of common problems — slipped tiles, failed flashing, cracked ridge mortar, or a flat roof that has blistered after a hot summer. None of them are complicated to fix when you catch them early. Left alone, they all get worse.
The tricky part is not the repair itself — it is finding the actual source of the problem. Water can enter at one point and travel several metres along a rafter before dripping onto your ceiling. We have been doing this for over 30 years, and spending an extra 20 minutes on a proper diagnosis saves everyone time and money later.
We work on all pitched roof types across Worcestershire — concrete and clay tiles, natural slate, artificial slate, and plain tiles on older Victorian and Edwardian properties. We also cover flat roofs on extensions and garages, and all the lead detailing around chimneys, dormers and skylights.

Types of repair
Common Roof Repairs in Worcester
These are the repairs we are called out for most regularly across Worcester and Worcestershire. Every one starts with a proper inspection — we do not quote blind from the ground.
Slipped & Missing Tiles
One of the most common calls we get. A tile slips or blows off, the felt underneath gets wet, and before long you have water finding its way into the roof space. We replace the tile, check the nibs and battens underneath, and make sure nothing else is working loose nearby.
Leaking Roof Repairs
A leak rarely comes through the ceiling directly below the problem — water travels. We trace it back to the source, whether that is failed flashing, a cracked ridge, a perished felt underlay, or a poorly sealed valley. We fix the actual cause, not just the symptom.
Ridge & Hip Tile Repairs
Ridge tiles are bedded in mortar that cracks and shrinks over time. Wind gets underneath, the tile lifts or falls, and you have an open gap at the highest point of your roof. We re-bed or re-point ridge tiles properly — no bodge jobs with silicone.
Flashing & Lead Repairs
Anywhere your roof meets a wall, chimney, dormer or skylight, there is lead or flashing keeping the water out. When that fails — cracks, lifts, or was poorly installed — that is where the water gets in. We dress and secure lead properly or replace sections that have gone past saving.
Storm Damage Repairs
Worcester gets its fair share of wind and rain. After a storm, we assess the damage, make the roof safe and carry out permanent repairs. We do not just throw a tarpaulin over it — we fix it properly so you are not calling us back in six months.
Flat Roof Patch Repairs
Blisters, splits and ponding water on a flat roof over a garage or extension are common. Sometimes a targeted repair is all that is needed to buy the roof several more years. We will be honest with you — if the whole thing needs replacing, we will tell you that too.
Know the signs
8 Signs Your Roof Needs Attention
Roofs rarely fail overnight. There is usually a period where small signs appear before a bigger problem develops. These are the ones worth acting on sooner rather than later.
Should You Repair or Replace Your Roof?
Most of the time, a repair is the right answer. If your roof is less than 20 to 25 years old and the problem is isolated to one section, a repair will almost always do the job properly and at a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.
Where it gets trickier is when a roof is older, has been patched multiple times, or the underlying felt and batten system is deteriorating. In those cases, continuing to repair becomes false economy — and that is when a full replacement starts to make more financial sense. We will always give you an honest view when we visit.

The right way to do it
Why a Proper Roof Repair Matters More Than a Quick Fix
There is a reason some homeowners end up calling three or four roofers over a couple of years for the same leak. A quick squirt of sealant or a thrown-on piece of flashing tape might stop the drip for a few months — but it does not fix the underlying problem. The water finds another way in, and the cycle starts again.
When we carry out a roof repair in Worcester, we replace tiles like for like, use mortar mixes appropriate for the application, and dress lead to the correct code and width. It takes longer than a quick fix, but the repair lasts. We back every repair with a written workmanship guarantee.

Questions we get asked
Roof Repair FAQs — Answered Honestly
Can you match my existing roof tiles?+
Usually, yes. We carry a wide range of tile profiles and work with local suppliers to source matching tiles. On older roofs, an exact match is not always possible — concrete tiles fade over time, and some profiles have been discontinued. We will always show you the closest available option and be upfront about any visible difference.
Do I need scaffolding for a roof repair?+
Not always. Many repairs on standard two-storey houses can be done safely from a ladder or with a small hop-up. For larger areas, higher roofs, or anything that requires sustained working at height, we will use scaffolding or a tower. We factor the access costs into your quote so there are no surprises.
Will my home insurance cover roof repairs?+
It depends on the cause. Sudden storm damage is usually covered by buildings insurance, subject to your excess. Gradual wear and tear or maintenance issues generally are not. If you are making an insurance claim, we can provide a detailed written report and photos documenting the damage.
Can you repair a roof in winter?+
Most repairs can be carried out year-round. The main exception is pointing work with mortar, which should not be done in freezing conditions as it will not cure properly. We will advise you on timing if it is relevant to your repair — and if something needs temporary protection in the meantime, we will sort that too.
